The
Antenatal Course is run by our mid-wife Siobhan Grehan. Siobhan was trained as a midwife in St James’ Hospital and has since
worked at the Coombe hospital in Dublin and with public health
nurses in the community as a nurse and subsequently as an antenatal
educator for nearly 20 years.
Siobhan is a mother of 3 teenagers and understands the trials and
tribulations that parenthood can bring. Her experiences as a medical
professional and as a mother give her a balanced view on expecting a
baby and parenting. Siobhan’s aim is that every parent to be who
attends the course leaves feeling relaxed and prepared for labour
and delivery and is also equipped with the tools to manage the
initial months of parenting. Siobhan thoroughly enjoys teaching and
guiding future parents through this exciting time.
Baby Massage is a beautiful way to really connect with your baby through the sense of touch.
The massage sequence which I teach was developed by Vimala McClure who is the founder of the International Association of Infant Massage. Vimala worked in India during the 1970’s and experienced first hand how mothers there massage their babies as part of their daily routine. She enhanced this method of massage to include elements of Swedish massage, reflexology and yoga.
It gives you a wonderful opportunity to get to know your baby, and see their reaction to your touch. It also provides you with time away from your busy life to just stop, and marvel at your precious child.
